A Toronto designer, David White, who I used when renovating my own basement, is participating in the Toronto Home Show’s 6th Annual Upcycle Challenge. The theme this year is Runway Fashion to Home Decor.

Take an old piece of furniture and give it new life. DO try this at home!

The pieces will be voted upon via Facebook and the winner will be announced during the show, also the pieces will be available for purchase during the show where all proceeds will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity.

All designers were given a Voucher of $200 to be used at 1 of 6 GTA Habitat for Humanity Restores to purchase any piece to revive it using your unique design ideas to transform an everlasting decor piece.

“I choose this small side table, primed it then painted it black and finished it with silver metallic and silver leaf for the details. My Neo-Classical look inspired by Karl Lagerfeld design in fashion.  I decided to go with a cool design for the surface just to create a different feel, I measure the surface and had ordered a custom glass to protect the finish.  I wanted to give people inspiration for what they can do using old pieces of furniture without throwing them away, with a little splash of colour and technique.”
